from
summer sirens,
released September 19, 2016
walked down by the park
i could see
faces in the dark
staring back from the trees
old lady in the park
thought she was dead
jumped up from the grass
and ran for her bed
we got a monkey in the zoo
swingin’ from the top of his tree,
thinkin’ “oh god,
in america, who will lead?”
elephant or donkey?
well you’re thinking bout the savior
oh he’ll rise
think about the meaning
of his life
think baby doll
once or twice
you could be the answer
to someone else’s cries -
well you’re thinking bout the savior
oh he’ll rise
think about the meaning
of his life -
think baby doll
once or twice
you could be the answer
to someone else’s -
cries…
well the monkey escaped the zoo by swinging from the top of his tree
now he’s standing on the street corner asking
“what’s in this for me?”
and a protestor approaches the monkey
he said…
he said “no more war,
no more pain,
doctors for the people,
and freely educate!”
“no more war,
no more pain,
doctors for the people,
and freely educate!”
well the monkey and the lady,
they ran up from behind
they pushed this man down
they said “don’t you tax our dimes!
money’s hard enough to come by!”
well the difference between the animal and the
human mind
it’s a fine line crossed
all the time -
well think bb doll,
once or twice
you could be the answer to someone else’s cries,
well you’re thinking about the savior
"oh he’ll rise,
think about the meaning of his life!”
well think baby doll,
once or twice
you could be the answer to someone else’s -
cries!
someone else!
someone else’s cries
someone else…
i’ll say it slowly for all to hear
the summer’s almost over, dear
wasteland winter, sandcastle spring
maybe money can’t buy you everything?
dollar squeezing rationale
simmer down now, hold on pal
western wasteland, long-lost paradise
are you thinkin’ ‘bout the meaning
of this life?
think about someone else… [etc. all]
dollar squeezing rationale
simmer down now, hold on pal
western wasteland, long-lost paradise
gotcha thinkin’ ‘bout the meaning
of this life...
